It’s probably our favourite World Tour and this year, we were lucky enough to be greeted with the Tour coming to town. Stage 19 started from our local town of Morbegno. 258km in the pouring rain, or that’s what was supposed to happen. Racers rolled out from Morbegno in soggy settings but shortly after, the race was neutralised as riders protested and demanded the stage to be shortened. We don’t blame them. The race organisers agreed and the riders boarded the buses and the convoy skipped 117km. In every World Tour, you can always guarantee surprises in one form or another, and this year’s Giro was not short of them.
