Louis Reboul in the Legit Carbon
Slatebound
The Black Hills is a well-known spot in the south of France: scenic, raw, and insanely fun to ride, writes freerider Louis Reboul. "It’s the closest thing we have to Utah, which is why the original plan was to head out there and film clips for my Red Bull Rampage submission. But after talking it through with my Bluegrass partners and my filmer, Héloïse, the idea evolved into creating a full edit. We wanted to bring back that classic freeride vibe - simple, authentic, and true to the spirit of riding."
Pure slate paradise
We went with the goal of discovering new zones and riding them as naturally as possible, without digging too much or reshaping the terrain. After a lot of scouting, we ended up finding a fresh area that had never been ridden before, not far from the original spot.
We were “lucky” enough to be shooting during a heatwave, which meant very early mornings and late evenings to stay out of the worst of the heat. But honestly, it all came together exactly how we imagined, and we wouldn’t change a thing.
This place is pure slate paradise, and I hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed making it.
